Scenario
A Fortune 500 telecommunications company required custom
images and applications installed on desktop, notebook and workstation
computers.
Challenges
- Inconsistent order placement created extreme periods of high and low volume
- Number of possible configurations demanded technical precision
- Maximum 24-hour turnaround on orders, regardless of volume
- Customer updated OS images on a quarterly basis
Solution
TriFusion provided an automated solution
that both imaged the computer and deployed or 'layered' the custom
applications onto the individual computers. All possible
manual technician touch time was reduced significantly.
Results
Since program inception, TriFusion has
processed in excess of 50,000 units with an average accuracy
at or greater than 99.5 percent. Additionally,
our Service Level Agreement realization has been
more than 99.9 percent. Because of this success,
TriFusion has been requested to assist with the
management and quality testing of quarterly image
updates.
Scenario
An independent school district needed their Microsoft, Apple and Novell eDirectory
systems to communicate with each other to allow cross-platform management of
their HR database.
Challenges
Apple uses an open directory, Microsoft uses an active directory
and Novell uses its own eDirectory, each with different nomenclatures
and formats.
Solution
TriFusion provided the custom development of an LDAP database
to accommodate the different directory structures and designed and
implemented the client-side interface; Novell’s eDirectory
was chosen as the main directory, and TriFusion developed an IDV
(identity vault) to allow the eDirectory to communicate with the
Apple and Microsoft systems and a Lotus Notes driver.
Results
The solution resulted in district-wide cross-platform management
capabilities in which a teacher, student or employee can log in to
the HR database on any computer in the system and find the same ease
of usability on any computer in the district.
Scenario
A city department of education required an automated imaging service
for its 30,000 new Apple laptops.
Challenges
Some of the machines were equipped with DVD burners and some were
not. A solution that could differentiate between the two and image
each with the appropriate software package was needed – for
30,000 machines.
Solution
TriFusion developed custom scripts and software that could keep
pace with frequently changing Apple hardware and formed an automated
process that could image a machine with a single click.
Results
TriFusion’s automated imaging line was streamlined enough to
handle up to 1,500 machines per day, easily accommodating the department’s
requirements.
